Hm. What time was it? That was a question Dante often asked the world and the world never answered back. Of course, technically it always answered back during the day. All he would need is a long hard stick, the sun, and which direction North was. Unfortunately, though he had a long hard stick it wasn't appropriate for this use. And the sun was never his friend, as it always beat down on him and forced him to take cover in the shade, and he had no idea which was was North. But at the moment he could get the general idea of the time. The sun was setting and he had just finished his dinner. A $.99 meal from the McDonalds near where he was. At his side was Koala, the small dog finishing his own meal. Dante had managed to get enough money to buy Koala a bag of generic dog food, and now he and his companion was taking refuge in a small warehouse deep in an alley.
He stood up, looking down at the dog who was now looking up at Dante with his wide eyes and cute puppy face. God. Dante was a sucker for anything adorable. And for dogs. And this dog had Dante wrapped around his little paw's pinkie. If it had a pinkie... anyway, all the dog had to do to get something from Dante was look at him and tilt his head. Dante bent down, Koala was still small enough to carry, and picked him up, he gave him a small kiss on the head, "We should probably go find another place to stay. We've been here a while and the last thing we want is to get involved with these cops. I want you to stay here though, and stay hidden, can you do that?" the dog looked up at Dante and blinked, "Heh. I'll just close the door then," he said before moving over to the door of the warehouse.
The corner he had moved from was where a small bed had been made from an old blanket and a small, old pillow. Next to it was the bag of dog food and a small bowl, and trash from the eaten fast food. He'd throw that all out later. He gently put the dog down, "Now Koala, I'll be right back I promise," he said before letting himself out, closing the door behind him. The dog whimpered a little before pawing at the door as Dante walked away, turning out of the alley onto the street.

For Cian, it was another appointment at the Hospital. His medication was treating him well, but the physical didn't go over so well. Once more he had lost it and freaked out. He didn't like being touched like that. Not even his fiancee could touch him in some places and he hated that. He wanted to change it and he was trying very hard to, but he just couln't. He left the hospital with another feeling. A feeling like this was never going to go away and leave him. But that was obvious. The scars on his wrists said it all. Or did they? Most woud assume him for a suicide, but the scars were complete rings. Not just slits. They were completely wrapped around. Binding marks. No, he wouldn't think on it. Pushing it all away again, he continued his walk. The soles of his shoes scuffed against the pavement as he went. kicking the odd cigarrette butt aside. That made him crave for one. But he was quitting. He was quitting because Pauley was. She was quitting for the baby she was going to have. It was a hell of a circle. He didn't want her to do it alone and he didn't want the baby being harmed. During or after the pregnancy. He popped another nicorette and chewed away. As he walked, his head was down. Taking the usual turns, down to cut through some of the darker streets, he accidently bumped into someone and fell back. He landed hard on his backside and winced. Hard, really hard impacts hurt more then they would have. But that might have just been a mind issue with him.

Dante paused a moment mid-step. He was getting that craving again. Sure, he had proven that he could go without cigarettes for a long period of time. He had to. He wasn't going to waste money on cigarettes if he could use the money to make Koala's life easier. But yet, he always made sure to have at least one pack on him. And he'd smoke a cigarette only when absolutely needed. Ideal would be to quit smoking, and he figured he was probably going through that process at the moment. Limiting himself. Besides, he didn't want to smoke around the dog. He didn't want to betray his buddy by giving him lung cancer or anything. But right now he really needed a smoke. He reached into the inside pocket of the brown jacket he had stolen from his 'home' so many years ago and took out a pack of cigarettes, it was still half full as he took one out and placed it between his lips. He put the pack back as he exchanged it for a lighter, taking it out and lighting the cigarette. Once the lighter was back in it's original spot he put his hands deep down into his pockets as he continued to walk down the streets. People felt somewhat safer there, probably because of the hospital and police, but that didn't stop them from getting a bit nervous when they saw Dante. He noticed some girls walking down the sidewalk coming towards him, and after seeing him they crossed the street to continue the other way. He chuckled a little at the sight, eh. What was he to expect?
Well. Definitely not what happened next. He was so focused on the humor he saw in the girls changing sides of the street that he didn't notice the man in front of him. He felt them bump into each other, and saw the guy hit the ground with what seemed like a great deal of force. "Shit man, are you okay?" He asked, noticing the wince. He held out his hand for Cian to take to help him up.

Cian looked up the extending hand to see the face of the man he had bumped into. Cian felt a little intimidated to say the least. But he was a little afraid. Mainly because of past events. This guy had a similar build and look about him and it made Cian nervous. But he was nervous around most men now. They even had to switch his doctor as he nearly stabbed the male doctor he had during a physical. He looked at the hand for a moment longer and took it, to help himself up. But as soon as he was up, he took his hand back. "I'm fine, its alrigh'... I'm sorry i ran into you." He pulled the sleeves down to cover his wrists again and pushed his hands in his pockets. A little unsure of what to do. This guy seemed to mean him no harm, so Cian was going to force himself to stand here and carry on a conversation should one start.

Dante could definitely tell the man was at least a little afraid of him, and he wasn't exactly surprised by it. But the reason for the action was quite different in Dante's mind than the one Cian held. Dante had no idea about this man's past experiences. But he was patient anyway as Cian obviously had to get himself the courage to hold Dante's hand. He noticed the suddenness Cian had when taking his hand back, but he didn't say anything as he took his hand back and put it in his pocket in a relaxed fashion. "Heh, don't be sorry. It takes two to make an accident. Besides, you're cute. You can get away with it," he grinned a flirty grin. Yup. That was Dante. Flirting with random strangers he bumped into. He looked at Cian, "I'm Dante, by the way."

No, he didn't like that. Cian was grateful of the compliment, but they, had said similar things, and left him a note. Gods he was worried. But he stood here still. He was trying to force the idea that every man who said he was cute wasn't going to kidnap him and rape him. He sighed a little. Dante. Interesting name for an interesting looking fellow. He was a little hesitant to give his own name. "Cian... " He finally said. Looking around. The people count was dwindling down as it was later in the day now. Cian wasn't feeling too safe. But he really wanted to force himself to be in a situation like this. Just as long as hands were kept away from him, Cian would be fine. He looked at his watch, and then reached into a pocket. It was that time again. He popped one of the pills he was taking and swallowed it. Not sure of what to say, he said quietly. "Um... wha' brings you around here?"

Okay. Now Dante was getting slightly confused. But then again, he figured he shouldn't be too confused. It wasn't exactly Earth-shattering that someone was a bit nervous to be around Dante. Especially around this time of day, when 'day' was turning into night. He was just patient as he waited for Cian to give him his name. He figured he'd try to make Cian relax a little more. And even though he was sure that he himself could hold his own in a fight, he didn't know if this Cian fellow could. But then he saw him look at his watch and take a pill. Dante tilted is head in confusion but he shrugged it off. Probably nothing he should be asking about. Then he heard the guy's question, and he answered, "Eh, just looking for a place for my dog and I to stay, and you?" he said, thinking back to Koala. He didn't like him being alone when it got dark. For a few reasons, one being that Koala was still a puppy, a second reason being that he didn't trust the people around here, a third reason because the dog didn't like the dark, and so putting all of this into his mind he glanced at Cian, "Actually, speaking of him, I should probably be going back before it gets dark and then continue looking..." Now he was torn. He had realized Cian was skittish, and with the sun going like it was, it was going to get dark and dangerous. He looked at Cian, "Do you want to come with me? It's near the police station."

He stood quietly and listened. That sounded like this guy didn't have a home. Cian felt bad for him, but at the same time, he was still wary. Still listening, Cian darted his eyes around a little every so often, and then heard the proposal. Cian didn't think he had much of an option at the moment. He had forgotten his phone on the kitchen table so he couldn't call for a lift. He stood there for a little while longer. He nodded and decided to follow. Normally Cian wasn't this skittish. It was mainly because of his physical. Everytime he had to go through one, he regressed like this. He would be back to normal by morning, or as soon as he had Pauley in his arms. "I'll come... " Sure, he hated the police in this city for how poorly they had handled everything, but he felt safer. If he had to scream for help, he was sure it would come.

Dante waited patiently for Cian's answer, he really wasn't going to pressure the guy into coming with him, but he was interested in him. Not in that way, of course not. Well, maybe a little. But as far as Dante was concerned, if he really was in need of some sex, he could just go into a bar and take off his shirt. He was sexy, and he would flaunt it if he needed to get laid. Plus, he would avoid doing anything that could be mistaken for being illegal (other than drinking) because he had a very important responsibility at the moment. Right now, in a warehouse in an alley, was a dog. A dog waiting for Dante's return. If Dante was arrested, at best the dog would be back on the streets, and worse they would euthanize Koala. And just the thought of that brought such a sadness to Dante that he refused to think about it. Yes. He knew Koala was going to pass on some day. But hopefully, not for a while and only when Koala was old and it was expected. Sure it would still be sad, but it would be a better sadness.
But he was slightly surprised when the man agreed. He hid it with a soft smile instead of his normal flirty grin- it didn't seem fitting. "Alright then, follow me," he said as he turned back towards the path he took the first time. He really hadn't traveled that far, so it didn't take long to get to the mouth of the alley. He looked at Cian, "You can either stay here and wait for me, or come with me. Either way, it wont take long. Koala's a good boy."

Cian remained silent the entire time. He walked with careful steps down the way that Dante was leading him. The shadows were playing tricks on his eyes now. Thinking that he saw some of them move almost. He was always this messed up after his physicals. Fortunately he had only one left. Then he would be done and he wouldn't have to worry about this. One thing that he knew was common in every hospital. Didn't matter where in the world, the nurses would always be bitter and nasty. These ones of course had to retrain him when he was panicing so he naturally hated them. It was always bad. In the end they sometimes had to sedate him a little. He hated it all. Approaching the alley, Cian looked down it, and then at the area aroun him. Then back to Dante and down the way again. He stood quietly, then finally spoke. "I'll come... " But hell, he was going to be careful.

Dante waited for Cian's answer, he was patient yet again, not one to push someone in an obviously uncomfortable situation. Especially in a situation that could be perceived as something totally sketchy. But when he heard Cian give the go ahead, he just nodded, "alright. Follow me." he said as he turned down the alley. It wasn't that far of a walk, and soon they were outside the old warehouse. There was a light scratching at the door. He smiled a little, it was his little baby. Yeah, he would call Koala his little baby, so sue the man. He liked cute things and he loved his dog. He opened the door to the warehouse, the puppy bounding out, sitting against Dante's legs before noticing the new guy. He looked at Cian, tilting his head before letting out a small bark and moving over to sniff Cian's legs, his eyes looking up once again, begging for a pat, "Heh, that's Koala. Dunno how old he is, probably no more than ten months."
He at first just come for the dog, but as he thought about it he realized that it might just be easier to bring everything now. His eyes went back to Koala, the dog had gotten out of his collar again. He looked to Cian, "would you mind watching Koala a sec? He's normally pretty good, but I don't want him running off right now. I just need to get some things," he moved to the door way of the warehouse, and before vanishing inside he muttered to himself, "Now where's the rope, leash, and collar?"

Following once more Cian stopped only when Dante did at a large warehouse. He heard the scratches at the door and for some reason or another, Cian's mind jumped to the worst thing he could think of and that was of another human being. But the door opened and a puppy came out instead. Relief washed over him and he reached out to pat Koala on the head lightly. Cian smiled, dogs always were good therapy and managed calm things down. But eyes snapped up at Dante's back as he disappeared. Muttering something about getting things. The leash and collar was nerve racking. Of course the dog here was evidence enough. But rope? Why would he need rope? Cian's heart began to race a little. Beating hard as he was starting to panic. Rope! Cian didn't want to be taken again. He didn't want the violence or the violation. He turned to run but saw someone or something moving at the other end. A few shadey looking people. Cian was more or less stuck.

Dante moved into the warehouse, going over to his makeshift bed and home, finding the rope, leash, and collar scattered about the small area. He moved over to his backpack, putting the bag of dog food in it on top of his spare clothes. He placed the food bowl and the water dish next to the bag of food. He closed the bag, zipping it shut before rolling the pillow into the blankets, attaching it to the top of the backpack with the rope. He stood up, putting it on is back before getting the leash and collar as well, leaving nothing noting anyone of their being there except for some empty McDonald's bags and a water puddle from the water dish. When he returned to the alley, he saw Cian. He frankly looked terrified, and Dante got a look of concern on his face. "You okay?" He asked before bending over, "Come here boy," he said, the dog happily trotting over towards Dante as he put the collar and leash on him, standing up again.

I wanna go home, I wanna go home, I wanna go home, I wanna go home..... Thats all that was running over and over inside of Cian's mind. He just wanted to go home and hug his Fiancee. That all. He wanted to get out of here in sound condition. He didn't want to be found in an alley somewhere. Not again. When Dante came back out, he almost jumped. He was so scared, he felt like he could start crying at any point now. He would run into the shadows with those shadey characters if he had to. He saw though, the leash and collar going to the dog. Just like he had expected it to. But where was the rope? Maybe it was still inside. But why did he have all that stuff with him? Maybe he would be taken to a different location. Perhaps there was the home of the rope. But he saw the rope finally. It was in the packings. Holding things together. Perhaps he was overracting. He for a moment didn't hear the question. But it registered finally after a while. Um... ya... Wow. Because that sounded just fine. Cian was still afraid and didn't know what to think. As long as Dante didn't touch him. He would keep his composure.

Dante couldn't help but notice just how scared Cian was. Even Koala noticed, the dog getting a little skittish at the man. Everything Dante did resulted in a reaction from Cian like the guy expected him to jump him or something. He kept a gentle hold on Koala's leash as he waited for an answer from Cian. He sighed as he looked at the man. He didn't want to frighten the man further, so he said the following as carefully and as kindly as possible, "Bullshit," he put his hand to his head in an exasperated manner, "I don't know what happened, or really who you are, but you are not okay. I'm not asking for your life story, but if there's something I can do to make you feel more comfortable, tell me. You're even freaking out the dog," he pointed down to Koala who was now sitting almost behind Dante's legs, not knowing what to make of the situation. He sighed a moment before thinking of something on his own, "If you're afraid I'm gonna jump you or something, don't be. I can't afford to do anything illegal- except maybe the occasional drink, but whatever. If I do and get caught, these twisted cops will haul me off somewhere and then Koala will be here on his own again at best, and at worse they'll punish him cause of me. So don't worry and stay close. I don't like the looks of those guys," he said as he gestured over to the shady people populating the area.
