The quite roar of her engine died as Pauley shut off her bike, parking it in the lot beside the park near her home. Their home. It was a beautiful day out, and she wanted to make the most of it, sun or not. Pauley made sure her sunglasses were on well as she made her way across the sprawling lawn. It was bright out, and too much light hurt her sensitive eyes. Finding her way over to an empty swing, the grown woman sat on the curved rubber and wrapped her pale hands around the chain. With a kick, she was off.
Her mind wondered to the note she had left for Cian back at the apartment. He was out getting something, and she didn't want to leave without him knowing where she was.
Cian,
I went out to the park. I needed some fresh air. I love you, and will see you when I come back to our home.
Love you,
Pauley
P.S. You are welcome to join me if you like.
As she swung slowly from the swing, the young woman thought back on the appointment she just had with her doctor. For a couple of weeks she hadn't been feeling well. She had been feeling dizzy, queasy, and often tired even after a good night of sleep. The trip to the doctor had confirmed her of what she had suspected. She was indeed pregnant. What had thrown the color blind woman off was how far along she was. When her doctor told her she was nearly through her first trimester at seven weeks, she could have fainted. Seven weeks previous, she had still had the birth control implant in her arm.
The doctor explained that it was possible that the implant may have been defective and explained to her her options. She wanted to strangle the man when he mentioned the fact that she could terminate the pregnancy. Five minutes she had walked out with a card for her next appointment.
Now, Pauley couldn't wait to tell him she was pregnant, but she still wasn't sure if either of them were ready.

Cian had run out to grab a few things. A pack of smokes since he had run out and yes, a large jug of chocolate milk. He had stopped drinking alcohol as it was affecting him badly. His medication wasn't liking it so he took to the wonderful drink he had favoured as a child. Then there was another thing. His medication. Cian needed more and so he had to go buy some more meds. That was one more thing he had to adjust to. Paying this amount for a needed perscribtion. He also had to get a check up. This was another thing that he hated. It was more money. He was missing the free health care he had back home, but oh well. Nothing could be done. He had been in for about an hour or so. Perhaps a little more. He hated it so much as it was more or less a physical run over to see how he was healing. Then a mental check. Sleeping habits and apetite too.
Safe to say he was out of there, but he had had a little bit of a freak out when the doc did a check of his lower region. Someone else had to come in and hold him there to try and keep him calm. He knew nothing was going to happen, but he still feared it. Especially since the doctor was male. He walked into the flat and put his chocolate milk in the fridge and his smokes in his pocket. Tossing the pills onto the counter top as he noticed the note. He looked it over and smiled. Cian needed to relax after his appointment. He was going to take her up on that offer. Grinning, he grabbed his lighter and his keys. Leaving the flat once more, Cian locked the door and struck out towards the park to meet her. Stretching his legs on the green, he saw her and tried to maintain a sound appearance. He didn't want her to know he freaked out at his appointment. He approached and beamed at her. "Hello love." taking a seat beside her on a swing, he too began to move a little. Taking out a fag, he lit it and tucked the pack away with the lighter. Inhaling the sweet poison he loved so much. Unwinding from the stress earlier. "How are you pauley? Fag?" He offered.

The slow rhythm of swinging made her mind wonder, her surroundings being blocked out. The sound of heavy footsteps and a cracked twig made her wake from her reverie and she nearly jumped, mentally cursing herself for dropping her defenses. She had known for a couple of weeks what her love did for a living, and she knew better than to drop her defenses, especially now that she had another life to protect. Pauley smiled as Cian sat in the swing next to her, and she leaned over to give him a quick kiss.
"Hi, honey. And no thank you." Kicking her legs, the color blind woman watched as the man lit a cigarette. Now that she knew she was pregnant, she would have to quit smoking. 'How was your day?"

He arched an eyebrow when she declined, but didn't question. Figuring it might be best since they were trying for a baby after all. He put it all away again and then took a long drag from his smoke. Lifting a slightly shakey hand to take it from his lips. Letting it rest between his index and middle fingers on his right hand. Exhaling through his nostrils as the smoke shot out. Similar to that of a dragon. He heard her question as he looked at the fag in his hand and lifted it to take another short drag. He shrugged a little.
"It wasn't too bad I guess... could've been worse i suppose. Got more meds." It seemed like thats all he got anymore. He didn't much like carrying on conversations about them. He didn't miund updating and saying that he had gotten more or a refill, he just hated telling others he was on them, because then people would dig to find out more. He sighed. "You?"

Slowing the swing, Pauley came to a halt as he spoke. She knew he had gone to the doctor, but didn't realize they were going to keep him on the medications. It had been quite a while since the attack, and his bruises were gone and everything had healed. Well, except for his mind. He still had nightmares, and there were still places that she couldn't touch without him recoiling. She wasn't going to question him as to what meds he was on; she could easily find out later if she wanted.
Pauley sighed as she tried to figure out the best way to tell him. "Well, I went to the doctor, you know, because I haven't been feeling well. He figured out why I am been so sick." She stood slowly, not wanting to spook the man and stood beside him. Taking his hand and placing it on her abdomen, she smiled uncertainly. "Cian, I'm pregnant. Seven weeks, actually."

Furrowing his brow slightly in concentration as she mentioned her trip to the see the doctor. He knew perfectly well that she hadn't been feeling well, and it honestly had worried him. Thinking that maybe his cooking had poisoned her or some other thing. Feeling his hand being brought over to her and pressed to her stomach, he looked at her, and with her next words he just stared at her for a moment. When it sank in, Cian removed his hand and looked at the fag in his other hand. He dropped it on the ground and snuffed it out with his shoe. There was a bin within sight, so he got up and stood by it. He pulled out his lighter and the new pack of fags he had bought moments earlier, tucking the lighter inside, he threw it all into the bin and headed back to sit with her again. Taking a seat on the swing beside her, he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her. It meant a lot to him. But it was at this point that something else hit.
"Seven weeks? How... is that possible? We haven't been trying for that long.... unless that first night. But you had the implant.... no.. you know wha'? That doesn't bloody matter." He hugged her again and kissed her. Getting up from the swing he stood infront of her and cupped her face in his hands as he slid to his knees infront of her. Letting them go over her shoulders and down her arms. "This what we wanted, and we are fortunate enough to have it. Even more so considering now we will have it sooner then planned. Which means we don't have to wait so long." He beamed at her. And hugged her around her waist. Resting his head against her stomach.

Unable to say anything, Pauley watched with teary eyes as he did one thing she never thought she would see. As he threw his cigarettes away, tears of pure joy began to fall down her cheeks over her smile. She knew she would have to quit for the sake of the life growing inside her, but she didn't realize he would do the same. She watched as he held her, putting her hands on his face as he hugged her, trying to figure out how she could have been so far along. He was right, it didn't matter. This was their child, and she was just as excited as he was.
She returned his kiss softly and chuckled as he got on his knees and hugged her. For a moment she was afraid he was going to pop the question. Not that she didn't want to marry him, but she didn't want him to think that he had to marry her just because she was going to have his baby. Cupping his chin, she gently prodded him back on his feet and kissed him hard. "I love you, Cian. It doesn't matter how this happened, all that matters is that we are going to have a baby."

He felt her fingers around his chin as she obviously wanted him up. He obliged and returned the hard kiss with a big grin. Listening to her as she then spoke about it. Agreeing of course. He heaved a sigh and stood back a little. Holding out his hand to her so that she might be helped from the swing. "A walk love?"

Taking his hand in hers, the soon to be mother marveled at how small her hand was in his. Her pink eyes nearly welled up again as she thought of how long she had longed for this day. "A walk sounds great." They set off as a leisurely pace on the sidewalk path that wound it's way through the public space. A thought occured to her just moments into the walk. She may not have family to tell, but he did. Pauley squeezed his hand in hers and smiled. "Do you want to call your family? I don't mind if you do." She stopped and kissed his cheek, the sunglasses she wore making everything a bit dark. "I cannot believe we are going to have a child. And our apartment isn't going to be big enough, either." They were going to have to find a house, and she knew where she wanted to look as well.

As they walked, Cian was sure to hold her smaller hand in his own close. Walking with his shoulder against hers a little as he leaned over and kissed the top of her head as they walked. All thoughts of work left him. All thoughts of his pains and worries in his mind left him. All he had now was himself, Pauley, and the son or daughter she was carrying. that was a feeling he adored. Cian was going to be a father. He was more then happy. Hearing her comment he sighed.
"I will tell them. I will call them, but not now... This is our time. As for the flat.. i agree... But i unfortunately still suck at knowing the city. Um.. do you have any ideas? I can try and get money from my employer to help... "

Nodding, Pauley placed her hand back in his and they continued on. "Okay, love. We can call them later. I think I would like to talk to your mom, if she would like to speak to me." He spoke very highly of his family, and she knew he loved them, and that they loved him as well. She wanted to assure his mom that she loved her son, and was excited to have this child. That and that she was going to be there for him, no matter what. "I think I could get an advance on my next project. Not to mention my manager called this morning to let me know that my entire collection sold, so that is a good amount just added to my account." Over five hundred thousand dollars to be exact, she thought to herself. "We could go looking at houses whenever you want."

He really liked the idea that Pauley wanted to talk to his mum. He felt a little weird though. He was going to be a father, and he wasn't even married. The ideal was always that the couple should be married. He personally didn't care. But still. It felt weird, and he didn't want to propose now because he was afraid she might think it was just for the kid. It never would be that way, but still. Now he didn't know when to do it. He was going to ask her this coming weekend. But now it didn't seem to be the time. This threw him off completely. Well, a time would manifest and then he could do it then. "I think tha' would be great.. my mum i think has wanted to talk to you for a little while though." he then listened about the house thing. "Well, I only want to go look when you are fit to do so."

A smile crossed her features as they walked. His mother had been wanting to talk to her? That was interesting, and very nice. It would be nice to hopefully have a mother like character in her life again. Especially now that she was pregnant. "She's been wanting to talk to me? That's nice. I really hope your family will like me. And Cian, I may be pregnant, but I can still do everything I used to. Except smoke. I quit as soon as I found out. So when we get home, we can look for an agent if you like."

he laughed a little bit. "My family will love you... trust me. My family loves everyone practically. I am sure you are safe.. and you don't have to worry about the premarital sex, having a kid issue.. my parents won't give a hell. " He beamed at her and kissed her. "Alright.... have any specific agencies in mind?" They continued to walk along. He loved her so much.

Her hand in his, they walked the rest of the way through the path. In a big city, it was hard to have a long path for walkers and bikers. As they made their way back to the swings, Pauley stopped and kissed the love of her life and the father of her child. "I think I still have the number for the agent who sold me our flat. We can call her and see what she has listed. I do want to live somewhere nice and safe. Perhaps in one of the gated communities." She kissed him again, hard this time, seeking something he could not give her there. Groaning, she pulled the keys to her bike from her pocket. "Let's go home. I want to celebrate."
