In need of some new material, Pauley, armed with her trusty Nikon and several rolls of film, made her way through to old haunted cemetery and found just what she was looking for around the Catholic church - desperate people looking for someone to accept them, and tell them everything would be okay.
As the shutter clicked away, the young woman caught the vast array of people who worshiped at the church. To her left, waiting outside of a confessional, was an old man who seemed to be homeless by the look of him and the state of his dress. To her right was a young businessman with a nervous twitch, kneeling before a statue of Mother Mary.
In black and white, these people had a certain mystical quality to them that her mentor seemed to love, and her buyers kept asking for these real life pictures.
Camera still clicking, Pauley marveled at how beautiful a run down church could really be.

She wasn't a religious person, far from it actually, but it would take a sorry sole indeed not to see the very subtle beauty that only a church could provide. St. Paul's Catholic Church wasn't what anyone could call 'majestic' at this point, but Misaki could see beyond the run down stone walls and overgrown grass. Back in its day, this place must have been a sight to see. High walls with sparkling glass windows that shone brightly, even when the sun had dipped beneath the horizon... Yes, it must have been a beautiful sight indeed...
Walking along the outside of the church, she marveled at it and made up stories to fit the people who had visited it over the years. It was sad to her that not many people took the time to visit this place anymore, since the novelty had worn along with time. Those people... it's only too bad for them; they don't know what they are missing... Misa sat down on one of the stone benches just outside the church, watching the people who were there go about their prayer. Her skirt fluttered up prettily in the wind, making her feel quite lovely despite how gray everything seemed. She laughed at herself. "Oh dear, I really am a fool." She whispered to herself, a soft smile resting across her lips. A fool, yes that sounded about right. No knowledge of the world around, and yet she felt perfectly comfortable wandering around a place like this completely alone. Kaede would be so upset with her if he knew.
It was then that she caught sight of a young woman standing not too far from her, her face glued to a camera. Oh how fascinating, was she a professional photographer, or just another woman who found beauty in this quiet place? Misaki stood up and gave her a soft smile, even though the camera was concealing her face. Walking forward, she cut through the overgrown grass towards her, stopping only a couple feet from the photographer. "I beg your pardon." She said with a slight bow, "I don't mean to intrude, but are you a photographer?" What an obvious question... now that she was standing so close, the camera the woman possessed was hardly that of an amateur. Misa turned a little pink when she realized how stupid her question was, but it was far too late to go back now. With any luck, the woman might just laugh it off and they could both go about admiring this church as if nothing had happened. Or maybe... she dared herself to hope a little, maybe the two could become friends... It had been years since she had a female companion to talk to, far too long for any sane person to stand. Oh please, if there was a god in heaven, please give her the chance to make a friend. Lord knows she needed one.

The out side walls of the church were perfection to someone with an eye like hers. Holes and decay made the concrete walls worn, creating different shades of gray, even within the same brick. As she snapped a photograph of the weak sun glittering off of the stained glass window at the front of the church, Pauley heard a female voice address her. Setting the camera down so it can hang around her neck, she turned towards the voice and smiled. The voice came from a young woman, who looked a few years younger than herself even, standing before her. Large dark eyes and dark hair was all Pauley could really pick out about the girl, but she smiled anyway.
"Yes. I am a photographer. And you didn't intrude, so no worries." She raised her camera and caught the businessman as he headed out of the church, walking quickly, the twitch still present. She let her camera fall again and addressed the young woman. "I'm Pauley. Professional photographer. And you are?"

Misa smiled gratefully when the woman let the camera fall away from her face. Oh good. The poor woman have expected her to just ignore her and go about her work, an action that she would have understood well enough. She wasn't exactly a person of importance or interest. Most of the people she meet tended to look the other way when she tried to form a relationship with them, but this woman actually gave her an honest smile! Perhaps there was a chance of making a friend here after all! Unless... Misaki felt her bubble of confidence diminish slightly when a horrible realization came over her. What if this woman was just the kind type that always made a point to be courteous to anyone who happened by? If that were the case, she really had no reason to get excited.
Listening to her introduction, Misaki bowed her head once more and gave her a soft smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you Pauley, dear. I'm Misaki, professional..." Actually, now that she thought about it, she wasn't really a professional anything. She never worked, her fathers fortune and Kaede's week long 'outings' were enough to keep them living in comfort, and truth be told, she had never thought to get a job in the first place. What a sad existence... she rarely did anything besides cook and keep house while her son did goodness knows what with his time. And it had taken until right now for her to realize that her life was hardly anything to brag about. "Um... professional mother, I guess." She finished finally, not even totally sure about that statement, but at least it something. "Uh, so Pauley... what brings you out here to our neighborhood church?" Misa asked quickly, hoping to get off the topic of her slight stumble. Oh goodness... couldn't there just be one time in her life that she didn't have to get nervous around new people?!

With a smile, Pauley held up her camera. "I'm here to take photos. My newest collection I am working on is old delapitated buildings, and this church is fantastic." Quickly, she caught the trees swaying, casting shadow over the church. At mention of being a mother, the photographer inwardly cringed; at this rate, she would never get to be a mother. And she must have been off about the other woman's age. She didn't look very old at all, but she could be older than Pauley herself if there was a child involved. "Professional mother, huh? I heard that is the hardest job a woman can have."
Having been raised by her grandmother, she never really did know what it took to be a mother. For years, Pauley had hoped she would have children, but since it takes two to tango.... "What brings you out here to a run down church?"
((OOC; I am calling this as before she met Cian since I posted it before then.... hope you don't mind.))

When the woman raised up the camera, she cast another curious look down to it in interest. Photography did sound like an interesting job. To be able to find and capture beauty in each and every frame took a skill that she herself only dreamed about. This woman must be quite the artist to be making a living out of it. Perhaps she would even show her some of the work she's done, if things went well anyway. "Oh wow, that does sound fascinating!" She exclaimed, not for a second exaggerating her enthusiasm. "You're a talented artist, aren't you dear?" She beamed happily, as if it were her own work that was being discussed here. There was nothing she loved to see more than a young person with so much to offer the world pursuing that potential and making it their own. Being a mother made her proud of the accomplishments of the younger generation and it was a habit that she had no desire to shake.
At Pauley's words, she just smiled and gave a little nod. "It is a rather difficult job, but one that is most rewarding. Of course my son does everything in his power to keep it from getting easier." Misa laughed lightly at the thought of her boy. He was so head strong and stubborn sometimes, but he was always her little angel. That son of hers... he would do anything and everything for her if he could, even if it meant his own downfall. And that's what terrified her the most... She didn't know what it was that he did in order to make money for the family, but coming home severely drunk with multiple cuts and bruises adoring his body never ceased to frighten her. Kaede would just brush it off though and be gone again by morning, sometimes for weeks at a time... She never knew if next time, he wouldn't come back to her... Pauley's voice broke through her frightful thoughts just in the nick of time. Giving her another smile, Misaki brought her gaze over to the run down church. "I don't really know actually. It's probably just the fact that I've lived here my entire life and have never seen the sites this place has to offer... so, now I'm seeking to remedy that." She laughed at herself, wondering when she become such a fool. "Not as interesting of a reason as yours I know, but that's the best I've got."

The sun had set beyond the horizon, so there was no longer a point in trying to take any more pictures with her lighting gone. She placed the lens cap back on and hung the camera back around her neck as she listened to the other woman speak. With a shrug, Pauley nodded. She didn't like to toot her own horn, but she was good enough to be able to make a living at something she loved to do. "I guess I'm pretty good. I know many photographers who cannot make a living doing only what they love, so I guess I consider myself lucky."
It panged her again to think about children, so she pushed the thought aside. She nodded again and turned to face the woman. "I know what you mean. I have lived in many cities, and never saw everything in them. But at least you are trying." She sat down on one of the concrete benches and sighed at the delapitated church. "I think it's a great reason."

Misa smiled again and nodded her head eagerly. Oh this woman must be a wonderful photographer to have built a whole living from it. She only wished she could see some of her work one day, it was sure to be beautiful. After they talked for a little while longer, Misa vowed to ask her about seeing her photos sometime. It had been so long since she had seen quality art, and the experience would do her some good. "You must be quite the artist dear, I'm sure your work is just lovely." She smiled brightly, hoping that the woman would offer to let her see for herself sometime. Of course, that might be a bit too much to ask seeing as they just sort of meet each other in front of a decrepit old church of all places, but she could hope.
Taking a seat next to Pauley, she fiddled with her gauzy skirt, a shy smile on her lips. It was getting late, and Kae always told her to be sure to get home before the darkness hit, but she really didn't want to leave just yet. Besides, he probably wouldn't be home to scold her if she bent the rules, just this once. "Mm... It's a reason anyway, but probably not a great one." Swinging her legs back and forth a little, she smiled as the light breeze played with the loose strands of her short hair and kicked up her skirt a little. This was nice actually, to be out here with a fellow human being rather than being stuck home alone. Sure Kae might not like it very much, but he was always paranoid when it came to her safety. Giggling a bit, Misa turned her head slightly and offered Pauley a smile. "You look like you're about my sons age, he could use a nice woman to calm him down." Still smiling, she swung her legs back and forth a little as the shadows began to appear around them, but for some reason she still felt completely at ease. Strange, huh?
