This was not the most ideal place to be hanging around reading, but Guss had kicked her out of his shop about noon saying that she needed to take break from all these damn books. Rachel had begrudgingly left, but took with her a rather thick horror novel just to spite him. So here she sat, well actually she was more sprawled across the park bench more than anything else, with the open book in front of her face. Sure she could be reading back at home, but the sun hadn't gone down yet and wasting electricity wasn't on her to do list. Okay, that wasn't the reason at all.
This definitely wasn't a huge step forward seeing as her 'fuck off' attitude could still be seen very well through her posture and hardened gaze, but at least it was a start. Just putting herself out there for people to see was hard enough without actually striking up a conversation on her own. Rachel herself may deny it, but a part of her kind of wished someone approach her. Sure she'd be annoyed beyond all belief that her calm serenity had been broken, but being completely isolated from human contact does a number on a person - even when its self induced. But, she thought to herself as she flipped another page, that's not going to happen anytime soon. It never does, even when she makes a nervous effort herself. Why should today be any different? Nyx knew the answer, it wouldn't be. Nor the day after, or the day after that. It's better to get used to disappointment, because nothing ever changes in a world like this.

What a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day. Ryuu kept humming a song to himself while he walked around with the idea that he would try and find something fun to do, or someone fun. Heh. But where to go? The 8 ball was a good guess, there’s always a woman just waiting for him there. Meh, they are always shoddy at best, drunken floozies aren’t on his list of things to do tonight. So the club was a no. Maybe he could go to the club and just sing, that was always fun, though then he’d definitely get something tonight since women love to hear him sing. Well most women, some women actually have brains and don’t fall for that so easily. Ryuu always did this, everyday. He would do whatever popped into his head, or mostly whatever anyways. Day by day he lived his life, always ending up in a different place by nightfall, sometimes with a different person. Was there a reason to his way of life? Just to live life to its fullest and not take any day for granted. Who wants to be stuck in some stuffy old building working all day when you could be out having fun? Not Ryuu that’s for sure.
Skipping into the park, humming lightly as he goes. A mother and her child walked past him. What an ugly child, the mother isn’t nothing to look at either. Gross. Avoiding eye contact with the woman as he walked past them, Ryuu just snickered to himself after they were out of ear shot. Of course Ryuu got a few strange looks from the woman, but why wouldn’t he? For one thing, he’s gorgeous, another thing he’s dressed in rather bright clothing compared to the dull, lifeless look of the rest of this bland city. So different then his hometown of Tokyo. Tokyo oh Tokyo how I miss thee. If only his parents weren’t assholes he would still be living it up in the brightest fucking town alive! But nooo he’s too immature, he needs to grow up and be a man. I spit on their eventual graves! His brother isn’t too bad, though he is such a little nerd and a suck up just like their brown nosing sister and her stupid technology efficient company. Ugh, I hate them all. Ryuu has never gotten along with his family, well his brother isn’t too bad but they have completely different personalities.
Whatever, screw his parents. Heh screw, but eww not his parents. Grimacing he shudders at the thought and nearly wretches up his supper. Wait, what is this? Stopping in his track Ryuu stared at the young woman sprawled out over the bench. Hmm intriguing...Looks like his night may end well after all. Smirking he ran his fingers through his silky, soft perfect blond hair and made his way over to the girl. Walking up behind her, Ryuu he rested his arms on the back of the bench and his chin on his arms. Flashing her a bright smile he tilted his head to the side.”Hey there Miss...what is a young woman like yourself doing alone in a park? Awful good way to get mugged you know...”Yes, good job Ryuu. Perfect way to introduce yourself to a woman who clearly looks as though she’s ready to shove the book up anyones ass. But oh well, if she shakes him off then it’ll just give him something to do. Girls who play hard to get are always a better prize then those who just through themselves at him.

What the hell? Peeking over the top of her book, Rachel was surprised to see a young man with bright blond hair looking down at her. His clothing was quite a contrast to her plain, dark work uniform, making him stand out in the dreary park. But what was even stranger was the bright smile on his face. Okay, this was odd. When she said she wanted someone to approach her, she didn't mean some moron with a creepily happy smile. Most people in her situation would probably take what they could get and make the best of it, but not her and definitely not with this one. Intelligence was one requirement she would not back down on - not for anyone. And this guy didn't look like he met the standard. Too bad for him, but she wasn't going to cut him any breaks now. Not that she was before.
Nyx gave him a blank stare and brought the book back up to cover his face. Was he trying to scare her with that little piece of information? Good luck, not many things terrified her anymore; not after living in here for nearly six years. She had stared death right in the face before, nothing could break through her emotional barrier. Least of all the threat of losing a little money. If he wanted to scare her, he would have to do better than that. "If you're saying you're about to mug me, you haven't done a very good job at being subtle." She said, flipping the page again. Quickly scanning over it, she tilts her head slightly to read over the next page. It was a little distracting to say the least to have this guy hovering over her, but she was doing her best to ignore it. But that obviously wasn't good enough, she was still very much aware that he was still there. Rolling her eyes, she dropped the book over her chest and gave him a slightly irritated look. "If that's all you wanted to tell me, you can leave." A bit rude yes, but it would get the point across. Later she might regret not having him stick around for a bit, but that would soon fade. Sometimes it was better to hang around in the shadows watching life being lived far away. Better safe than sorry...

Ryuu stayed still in his spot, seeing that she obviously didn’t want him there the moment he arrived. What a loner. Wheres the fun in always wanting to be by yourself? Especially sitting outside reading a book. There is an insurmountable variety of things you can do outside that isn’t reading. Ryuu stopped in his tracks, so this girl wasn’t going to be won over with some of the more idiotic pick up lines that the floozies in the club think are hilarious. Hmm what would this kind of girl like, intellect. Ugh, that type of girl is she? Well Ryuu isn’t that strong in the intellect department so this would be hard but he’s managed with women like her before. There is always something a woman wants, this girl may want an intellectual man but most likely she is a sucker for a sweet guy. Perfect. Grinning, it didn’t matter that her first remark to him happened to be a snarky one. Chuckling lightly he lifted his head up.”Do you honestly think a mugger would come up to their ‘victim’ and start talking to them? Wow...and especially since I don’t have a weapon. I’d be the shittiest mugger ever.”Smiling cheerfully, his eyes sparkled a little as they always seem to do right on cue. Though this was going to be more difficult then just giving her a soft smile.
Waiting, that was all he was doing. Sure she had covered his face up right now but he knew she would lower her book. A man like him doesn’t come around often, and by that he isn’t just meaning devilishly good looking, but he is intriguing. Even to the smartest of women he’s intriguing with his way of life. To them, they are most often the girls who have their faces in books all the time, like this girl right here. And the way he lives each day to the fullest tends to draw them in. If not, then there are always other ways to draw them in. If she pulled her book down (like he knows she will) that means she is at least somewhat, a tiny insy little bit interested in him which gives him a gateway. So Ryuu waited, and waited and a few pages later she finally took her book down placing it over her chest. Smiling, he waved a little as in saying “hi again” but was met with a rude comment. Raising an eyebrow, this one was going to be tough, but she’d crack. They always do, and if not then that is their loss. Or well their gain really because then they wouldn’t have their heart broken, or their money stolen. Chuckling lightly, he gave her a dimply smile and began to walk around to the front of the bench. Standing now by her feet he stood there staring out over the darkening park.”Aww is my presence bothering you? I am truly sorry for that my dear, it was not my intent to annoy. I just saw you sitting here alone and thought you could use some company but now I see that your book is your company. I am sorry...”
Showing a small hint of sadness in his eyes, he bowed his head a little as if saying “goodbye”. Ryuu was great at acting, it got him through life. He knew when to turn on the sadness, the fake anger, or envy, or whatever he needed to help out in the situation. He wasn’t actually genuine a whole lot, but Ryuu was really good at acting that even the smartest of people won’t always be able to tell if he’s telling the truth or not. Turning around he slowly began to walk away as if admitting defeat to the young woman, but before he left Ryuu turned back to give her one last comment.”You know...you really shouldn’t hide that beautiful face behind a book all the time...don’t put a cloud over the sun...”Raising his eyebrows, Ryuu shrugged and with that he turned. Hopefully his words were enough to get her to try and strike up more conversation with him and if so, she was toast. Smirking as he slowly made his way away from her, now all he had to do was wait...
