It had been a long day, and Pauley wanted nothing more than to be able to lay in bed in Cian's arms and talk about the events of the day. And it had been a crazy one. Finding out her mother had died, and as she had read while the meat loaf was cooking and the potatoes boiling, had left her quite a sum of money and properties. Her mother had married up, and when she died, her dead husband's millions were transferred to Pauley. She had thirty days to accept the stuff, but it was all hers. Not to mention, she had met Cael as she had cried in the graveyard, and had gone through a huge ordeal with him and Cian.
Now, all she wanted to do was collapse in the comfort of her bed. All of this went through her mind as she changed into her lace nightie, figuring some clothing in bed might be appropriate now that Cael was staying with them. It would not do for him to see her in bed with Cian, naked as a jaybird. Dressed, with her hair down and brushed smooth, she crawled into bed, feeling down and just unsure of what the future was going to bring.

Well... his parents didn't know that Cael was here but they knew now. They bawled at him for a few minutes. Being parents. They had apparently called the police and everything. Cian talked them down afterwards and calmed them down and then once again there was calm in the Mahoney kingdom. He had settled Cael down and then showed him to his room before he headed towards his own room. Their room. He hopped down the stairs quickly and shut off all the lights. Locking the doors and shutting windows. Closing the blinds and curtains. He rechecked everything and then headed back up the stairs on light and quiet feet. Making a turn he clicked off the hall light and headed to the bedroom.
Opening the door he closed it. Looking back at her he smiled. God he was tired. But he did have a question he wanted to ask. But perhaps he wouldn't bring it up just yet. It was about those papers he saw when he was in the kitchen. He didn't read them. God no, that was her business. But he was curious. He clicked off the main light. Walking to the bed now, he stripped off his pants. Cian personally didn't care if Cael was in the house or not. If Cael came into the room and he wasn't out of bed yet, it would be just like it was at home. Yell at him to get out and throw a pillow at him. But that was how the brothers functioned. He crawled into bed next to Pauley and lay down. Wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close as he kissed the top of her head. Pauley... I know tha' tonigh' has brought a lot o' crap down.. but i want te ask you something.... Wha' were those letters in the kitchen? I didn' read them i swear..

Eyes closed, she registered the light going off and felt him slip into bed with her and Pauley let out a slight sigh of relief. It was nice to be in his arms. Especially after a long day like this one had been. Turning around in his arms so she could look at him in the dark, Pauley frowned. She didn't care if he had looked at the papers or not, actually, this would probably have been easier if he had. Oh. It would have been fine if you looked at them, I don't care. But Cian, I ran into Cael at the graveyard earlier today. Actually he came up to me, not knowing who I was because I was there crying. Moving in closer to him, she tried not to cry again, but damnit, her hormones wouldn't let her hold the tears in. I got a letter today letting me know my mother died, Cian. Not only that, but she had married a rich man who died before she did. So she left me everything. About thirty million dollars in cash and properties and investments. The tears falling more freely, she sat up, her long black hair creating a curtain around her face. The woman who couldn't give a damn about me while she was alive left me with enough money to feed third world countries. What did she think that would fix? What was so wrong with me that she didn't want me or even try to seek me out once she was on her feet? Why didn't she want me? Everything she had held in for so long came gushing out, the pregnant woman unable to control her emotions.

Cian felt her sit up as she was speaking. He really wasn't expecting any of this. He leaned back and turned on a light so he could see her properly. She was just crying and going on. He felt a stab of pain. He really didn't know how to answer her questions and that was perhaps the worst of it. He didn't know what it was like to be in her position, in more ways then one. He just sat up and wrapped his arms around her. Pulling her close against his frame as he gently tried to calm her. Now it was his turn to sooth her. She had done it so often for him, now it was his turn. He only hoped that it would be enough. I am no' going te tell you Pauley, tha' I know how you feel... because I really don'... an' I don' understand either Pauley. But perhaps... at firs' she knew tha' she couldn' care for you... then when she got older... she didn' want too because.. maybe she was embarrassed for wha' she had done. Maybe she really did love you but her mind jus' wouldn' let her think tha' was okay... maybe she thought tha' she didn' deserve you. He just continued hugging her tight. He kissed her on the top of her head again. Rubbing her back a little. He really hoped he was helping and not making things worse. I really don' know why she has done wha' she did Pauley... He didn't know what else to say.

Trying to get control of herself, Pauley forced herself to calm down a bit. She rarely got this way. Crying and blubbering was never productive, and it sure as hell wasn't getting anyone anywhere right now. Pushing off her irrational behavior onto her pregnancy, she took a deep breath then tried to smile through a red and slightly swollen face. She loved Cian so much. Yeah. I think you are right. I just, I just don't like it. She could have a least tried. You know? All these years, and she never tried to contact me, and then out of the blue, the city of New York contacts me to let me know I have become a multi millionaire over night? I wish she would have least wrote or something.
Letting herself be held in his arms, Pauley rested her head on the broad chest and sighed. Now all that is left I guess is for us to decide what to do with it all. It is all ours, and I honestly have no clue what to do with that much money. Cian, there are even vacation houses in Scotland, London, the Bahamas, and there is a cabin right by the Rocky Mountains. Not to mention all of the stocks and bonds. What do we do with all of this? Thirty million dollars was a lot of money, and she had no clue what to with it all. Quite content in their nice home, she didn't think moving again so soon was even an option. She loved Holloville. But maybe eventually they could send for Cian's parents and get them a home nearby if they wanted it. And of course college funds for Cael and the baby were must have's. But she has already planned on setting one up for the baby with the money she had left over from buying the house anyway...

He held her a little tighter. Finding his arms were long enough to wrap around her completely. All he could do was listen to her. Listen to her and analyse in his head what could and should be done. Thirty million was a lot. It really was. He, on a few occasions had been involved in transporting such amounts if not more. It was a substantial figure. He just held as she continued on. As he was trying to figure out what to do. Once she was done, he decided to give it a shot. No rational being, could e'er expect you te like wha' happened.. I would never expect ye te do such a thing. This was so sudden an' out o' the blue... time is needed. Then things can be thought through more clearly... He kissed her again. But i am very sure about one thing love... we cannot let people know about tha' money. Tha' is too much... an' with the people I deal with.. I can very well garuntee you tha' they do their research... If i were you... I would open up another account under a different name... put it in there... he wasn't trying to control her. Far from it. He just knew the dangers that came with that amount of money and he wanted her and Cael and the baby safe.

Taking in his advise, Pauley nodded. She was actually just thinking about that. For a moment, she had forgotten about "the family" but it was the elephant in the room. But, having it all moved into an account with a different name would be best. It wouldn't even go through her own first. Just right to the set up one. And little at time, perhpas it can be withdrawn and then deposited as they need it. That is right. I had nearly forgotten about all of that. If you were connected to that much money, the shit would hit the fan. I guess I need to call my lawyer tomorrow and see what I can get set up. But, love, would you mind if I set aside a small portion in a different account elsewhere for you and your family? And for the kids? Just in case something happens to me? Just to be safe, you know? No matter what he said, she was going to do so anyway. She probably just needed to go see her lawyer the next day and let him know what all was going on. She wanted an account set up for Cian and the kids, then one for the kid's education. And every time they have another child, if they do, a trust would be set up for each. And she really wanted to donate a lot of the money. It wasn't as if they had much use for it.

He didn't want to know her reasons. He knew already that her reasons would have been good enough, and he would have agreed. But he really didn't want to hear the one reason. Incase something happened to her. What should happen to her? Nothing. Cian wouldn't allow it, and if something did happen, he would refuse to let her step in. He would take it all. Nothing was going to happen to her and he would personally see to that. Now that he had her... he was not about to let her go. All he did was lift her chin and kiss her lips gently. He then hugged her close and whispered in a highly protective tone. Nothing... will ever happen te you... nothing. He didn't like the idea in the very least. Because he knew it could happen. He himself was the danger. Just simply being around her.. loving her. It was a danger to her and he knew that. So the idea definately upset him. I promise... Oh and he would keep that promise too. No one would dare to try and stop him.

Sometimes, just sometimes, he could be too overprotective. And this was definatly one of those times. Pauley hadn't even been thinking along the lines of something violent, she was really thinking of an illness. Cancer had taken her grandmother, and she was sure it was what had taken her mother. It was very possible that she could be next. He was right though. She was a target. Had been since they began dating. And now, she was beginning to wonder if she had gotten all of the men who had hurt Cian. It was the video that had her thinking along those lines, and if she were honest with herself, she had been wondering these things ever since she fist watched the tape. There was still someone out there, who was probably pissed off about their dead buddies, and she was a target.
I am going to call my lawyer tomorrow. If you would, will you take Cael shopping for some new clothes? He is going to need something more to wear if he is staying here. And you two need some time to reconnect. She would give him her card and tell him to go nuts. The two boys deserved it.

Cian remained holding her close. He couldn't help but feel, perhaps he should have held his tongue and swam in his thoughts over it. He regretted it. Just a little. He sighed gently. listening to the plan. Sounds like a good plan te me... He just now wondered where to take him. That didn't really matter. They held the same taste in clothing usually, so he could just do the rounds to the usual places. He heaved another sigh. He was tired. Cian let go of her and hugged her once more. Giving her a kiss. He lay down in the bedding and yawned just a little bit. Do you want me te turn out the ligh'? Come on.. lay down love.

Shaking her head, she yawned just after he did. No, no. I will get the light. You just lay there and keep the bed warm for me. Too tired to do much more thinking, she got up and flipped off the switch, then crawled back into bed, curling up in Cian's arms. It was such a welcome feeling, to have someone hold her. [color=FF0080} Love you, Cian. Good night.[/color]

Cian lay there, like he had been told to do. Keeping the bed warm. He waited for her to come back once the lights were out, and he took her into his arms. Holding her close and kissing her gently on the top of her head. He hugged her close. I love you too Pauley... good nigh'.. His last thoughts before sleep overtook him were on Pauley, and the child that they were having. On Cael. Hoping that he was going to settle in nicely. Then again his mind went back to work. He hated work. He was plotting ways that he could possibly get his way out. Ways that he could quit and be left alone. But he knew that wasn't going to happen soon, so he closed his eyes and began to drift off to sleep.
