"Why, hello," came a chipper voice from a not so chipper looking figure. He looked drained, washed out of all color - but the object he was holding was certainly not. "Aren't you a fancy sparkly, hmm?" he mused, ending with a chuckle as he held up the old, silver chain to the dim lighting of the shop. The woman standing on the customer side of the counter tapped her foot impatiently, as well as giving the scrawny man an odd stare.
"Oh, right...umm...this'll be, er," the man checked the money he had left in the register and smiled sheepishly. "Ten bucks, lady." He slapped down the money and went back to staring mesmerizingly at the shining silver chain. Of course he was never going to wear it - he was a guy after all - but it was so gosh darn pretty!
The woman let out a frustrated huff, took the money, and left. There was no way she was going to talk him into a higher price - she new a crack-pot when she saw one. No way was she coming back there again.
Snider was oblivious to the unhappy, deserting customer and gracefully set the new "sparkly" into a drawer of other antique chains. As much as this place was as old as the stuff in it, the man owning it looked dustier than most of the artifacts. Sneezing for a second, most of the dust cleared from the desk top and he waved it away. "Well, that was a nice find! Am I right, my friends?" He smiled lazily at his odd sculptures and statues, decorated with pearls and jewleries of all sorts. Of course, as expected, they answered with frowns, smiles, and odd distant stares. If they weren't silent and started answering him, Snider would start to worry about his sanity. Or what little he had left.
Shrugging, he lifted up a box that had just been delivered a while ago, filled with all sorts of junk, and began towards the back of the store to rummage through later. He had to wait to close shop before he could take a look through that treasure chest.

She was looking for something, something special to give to Cian. They weren't yet engaged, but she wanted to give him something to symbolize how much he meant to her. She didn't want to go to any of the high end jewelers because he would know she had gone out and spent a good amount of money, so she headed off to the one place she knew she could find nice, rare items and hopefully something Cian would love. Entering the little shop, the bell above the door rang and she made her way to the counter. A new guy was working the front, she noticed, and she walked to him and smiled softly.
"Um, excuse me? Uh, you wouldn't happen to have antique like men's necklaces or rings, would you? Perhaps something Scottish or celtic?"

"Ah?" Snider shut the back door behind him and stared at the woman quizzically. "Oh, you want to buy," he said more to himself, frowning slightly in dissapointment. she mentionedsome of his sparklies. He would never sell a sparkly...he'd trade for a better sparkly...but not sell. "Er, well," he said, forcing a smile. "I'm afraid I don't have any for sell at the moment...perhaps maybe if you come back another time?" he inquired, cocking his head slightly. He had a rather twitchy behavior, something that was most likely caused by his caffeine addiction.

The man turned toward her and Pauley mentally recoiled. She was usually not one to judge, but this new worker nearly scared her a bit. Seeing as it was a pawn shop, she had kind of expected to have to make a trade for her gift as well a monetary purchase. "Well, um, I could offer a trade if need be. You see, I want to get something nice for my boyfriend, and he would know if I spent much on it. He's kind of touchy when it comes to me spending money on him." She had brought with her one of the only things she had of value that was not her camera. Her mother's purity ring had been a running joke for her since she knew what kind of life her mother had led, and really, she was more than ready to get rid of the one sign she had left of that part of her life she never had. Taking it from her pocket, she set it on the counter. "I wouldn't mind trading this for something, plus I can pay for any other expenses as well. Do you have anything celtic or anything of the sort?"

"Oh, well, if you put it like that," he said, keeping a bit of distance from her; even while behind the counter. He picked up the ring and studied it carefully with a magnifying glass and was stuck staring at it for quite some time before he snapped out of his daze. Clearing his throat he put it back down on the counter. "I may...have something, yes..." he turned around to open one of his drawers and found a not so sparkly ring - one that held the Celtic knot. Perfect trade off, he thought. "How about this?" he asked as he faced her again and held out the ring.

Carefully taking the ring, she slid it over her thumb to try and guess at the size. She knew from the number of times they had held hands that his middle and ring finger were close to the size of her thumb, his ring finger being closer. And if it didn't fit, then she could always get a chain. The ring was perfect. With a knot making up most of the pattern, she knew he would love it. It was a bit worn and needed polished, but she didn't mind paying for that. "This is perfect. Is there any way you could polish it, and if you have a long silver chain could I get one as well? I don't mind paying extra. And thank you so much."

"I have a polisher, yes," Snider replied, smiling thinly. "And I just got a new silver chain today. Not too long after you came in." He held out his hand again to take the ring so he could clean it, while he put the other ring the woman traded into his pocket for now.

Handing the ring back over, she smiled gratefully. "Thank you so much, for everything. I will be sure to let my friends know about your wonderful service." She reached behind her and took her small money clip from the hidden pocket in her jeans. "How much do I owe you for the chain and the polishing for the ring?"

"Oh, well," he said as he took back the ring and knelt down to get the polishing liquid and began working to clean the silver. "The polishing is free, really. So no worries on that. As the the chain? Twenty dollars. Ah! Here we are!" Getting back up, he showed the now clean, shining ring to her and had to resist the urge to keep it for himself again. "I'll go get the chain."

Smiling gratefully, she took the ring that was offered and palmed it, the warmth of her hand warming the ring. The shop keep left, and Pauley pulled a twenty from her money clip, ready to hand it over to the man for the silver chain. She wasn't wearing a ring yet, and she didn't want to pressure him into anything, so she got the chain, planning on stringing the ring onto it before giving it to him.
