Now into the second trimester, Pauley seemed to be more tired than usual. She had laid down for a quick power nap while putting clothes away, only to find herself waking up three hours later, clothes still sitting on the tops of dressers. Groaning in protest of her long sleep, the pregnant woman finished the job she had started and began to head down the stairs for a snack. Something chocolate-y and pickle-y would hit the spot. As she neared the bottom of the steps, Pauley picked up two voices coming from the kitchen; one she knew to be Cian's, and the other she didn't know. Entering the kitchen, She quickly noticed Cian, standing my the counter with a sandwich, a strange, thin young man sitting at the table, and she noted that he didn't look very well at all. And most of all, a cute little puppy eating from a bowl on the floor. Confused as to what the hell was going on, but not one to really question strangers in the house if Cian brought them in, she smiled at the young man and the pup, and crossed over, giving Cian a sleepy kiss.
Hello, Cian. Sorry I fell asleep like that. It's the baby, making me tired. Smelling the sandwhich, she forgot all about the chocolate and pickles. Oooo... what is in that? Can I have a bite? Oh! And who are your friends, dear?

Cian smiled at him. He shook his head gently. No, ye can and ye will. I insist tha' you AND Koala stay with us here. Ye can have a roof o'er your head, keep food in your gut. He knew that having been out so long by oneself, and then having someone take care like this.. perhaps it would leave someone trying hard to keep up that wall. But Cian was damned determined to try and break that wall down a little. He munched quietly on the sandwich a little more. He set it down though and noticed Dante's bowl was empty. As he was about to get more soup for Dante, Pauley walked in. He smiled at her broadly. He picks up the sandwich and smiles. Its toasted tomato... jus' toast, mayo, s an' p... with tomato. If ye want a bite go for it. Unless ye don' like tomatos. He grinned and kissed her quickly. Then looked at Dante.
Pauley, this is Dante, an' he.. points to Koala. .. is Koala. Dante's dog. He smiled proudly. Dante, this is my fiancee Pauley. He took the empty bowl and moved to the stove that was keeping the soup hot. Filling the bowl and finishing off what was in the pot, he set the bowl down and got more crackers. He filled the ginger ale cup again. Dante.. if you can, try an' eat a wee bit more please.. He set out the crackers too. Then he left briefly. Into the closet he went searching. Finding then, a pail. He grinned and pulled it out. Placing it then near the couch he had set for Dante. He returned to the kitchen a few moments later and picked up his sandwich and finished it off.

Smiling at Cian, she placed a hand on her belly and took the sandwich as she watched him refill a bowl with some soup. So the boy was sick. Poor thing. Taking a bite from the sandwich, the baby thanked her and she swallowed, enjoying the juicy tomato. Hello, Dante. Hi, Koala. Welcome to our home. Feel free to stay. A friend of Cian's is a friend of mine. Turning to Cian, she pecked his cheek and rubbed her belly. Do you think you could make another one of those? The baby likes your weird sandwich. She bent down to pet the pup and smiled up at his owner sitting at the table. You are Koala here are welcome any time. You look sick, young man, and I insist that you stay, at least until I deem you better. We have a spare room any time you need it. You and the pup, here.
It would be nice, to have more people in such a large house. When buying the place, she had hoped to some day fill it with kids, and that may some day still become a reality, with the little one growing so rapidly, but until then, it was nice to have Cael, and hopefully now Dante in the house. It felt less lonely with more people in the large space.

Dante had opened his mouth to protest before he watched the woman come in. He could tell a few things from her by the way she walked in: One, she was probably very, very close to Cian. Maybe a wife? A girlfriend? A fiancee? A second thing he noticed was that she was pregnant. So she was either his wife or fiancee. He just watchced the interaction between them, with the sandwich and everything. And then his attention was brought back when he was being introduced. He smiled when he was introduced and he spoke, "Heh, I would stand up and shake your hand, but I wouldn't want to give you the cold, so just pretend I did," he chuckled. And so she was his fiancee. Okay. That made sense. And he had mentioned her earlier... yeah. One of the people living here. Another was his little brother. He then watched as he saw him get some more food, and Dante looked at it. He was going to try to eat more. Sure, his stomach might not like it due to being upset, but he was still dangerously underweight. Luckily Pauley didn't seem to notice anything wrong with him other than his illness.
Dante had finished eating as much as he could, his stomach starting to churn at the half way mark. She didn't notice that he was about thirty pounds underweight, thanks to the new clothes, and when she made it an option for him to stay there, at least after he was better. He wouldn't have to be in such an awkward place for him... he looked at her with a gentle smile, "Thank you so much for your offer. I'll leave when I'm better, but I'll stay and enjoy your wonderful hospitality until then," he said with a simple smile as he looked at Koala. He spoke about the dog, "He's only a few months." He said.

Watching Cian get a pail and set it by the couch, Pauley tried to assess just how sick the poor kid was. Smiling warmly at Dante, she set to work trying to fix up one of those strangely good sandwiches, and some tapioca pudding. It all sounded so good. Moving around the kitchen, she talked to the boy sitting at the table, glad to have someone to talk to. Cian was the love of her life, but he was a quiet man, and Cael, well he couldn't abide by the number one rule she had set up, so right now, she wasn't very happy with her soon to be brother-in-law.
How long have you been in the city? Since Cael's clothes are just a bit big on you, and that boy is rail thin, I am assuming you have been living out on the street for a while. Nothing to be shamed of, I did as well, once upon a time. Gosh, it seems so long ago, that I was sitting in some hobo's cardboard box for shelter until they got back and kicked me out.
Having the bread toasted, she slathered it in mayo and added some tomato. A dash of salt and pepper, and she had the sandwich and a little cup of pudding and a spoon. She sat at the table and took a bite of the sandwich. If you cannot finish your soup, I understand. There is only so much a sick and empty stomach can handle. Just leave the bowl and cup there, and I will get it for you. Cian made up the couch for you, and I know mind numbing television made me feel better during the morning sickness. She smiled and pet the pup on the head. It was a cute little thing, and she was glad to be able to give both boy and dog a home.

Cian was quiet again. Funny thing that. Whenever others were in a conversation, he himself stopped talking. He didn't realize he was doing it. This was something he had just picked up as a 'family' rule. Keep your mouth shut when someone else was speaking, or you might miss something. He just followed this rule all around. Mainly he didn't notice he was doing it, but he had been doing it since he was sixteen. So it was just ingrained a little. He watched the interactions and heard Dante. His brow furrowed a little. Looking at him. I still insist ye stay with us. We have more then enough space, an' food. We like company anyway.. an' don' let me hear tha' you would be a bother, cause ye wouldn'. He looks at Pauley and beams at her. Don' ye jus' love toasted tomato sandwiches? Oh an' Dante.. While you are on the couch.. I can set the spare room up, and get it arranged for you an' Koala.

Dante saw her start making the food, just keeping a kind and grateful smile on his face. He really was glad to have a place while he was sick. But his pride and comfort was starting to get in the way. Was it really okay for him to stay there? He wouldn't be causing any trouble? No. That couldn't be true. He was a sick, starving homeless man with a dog. That had to definitely add on to their load.
Dante heard her speak and looked up, "I've been here for about six years. But I've been on the streets for eight I think... yeah... I ran away at twelve, and I'm twenty now, so roughly eight years give or take a month or two," he chuckled at her comment on being kicked out of the cardboard box, "Haha, yeah, well with Koala to look after, a cardboard box only does so much. I've learned how to stake out abandoned warehouses pretty damn well. It's handy when you have nothing and look like a thug, people don't want to mug you."
Dante stood up, keeping a gentle smile at both of them, "Thank you... both of you, it really means a lot to both of us. I have some dog food in my pack too, it's about half full. So when he gets hungry you guys don't have to worry, I can feed him, thanks again... He was tired of protesting. If Cian wanted to make things more complicated for himself, then he could go right ahead and make the room. Dante figured he'd get a job once he was better and soon rake together enough money to get an apartment for him and Koala. As he said a final 'thank you' he went into the couch, lying down on it, his head still swimming from everything.
Koala had followed his owner, appreciating the love he got from Pauley, but still loving his master just a bit more (Seeing as how he constantly fed and kept him warm) as he trotted over towards Dante. Dante gently picked him up, cradling him in his arms, holding the puppy close to his body.
