Now he was happy. Finally he was able to say that he was satisfied with this arrangement and he hoped and prayed that it was all going to go well. Out all day he was. Left early in the morning. Even before Pauley had time to turn over in bed. She had still been asleep when he left. He had a lot of things to do. Pocketing his phone he had written a letter and set it on the pillow he had been sleeping with. Along with it a picture of himself with his eyes closed. So it was like he was sleeping there. Cian thought it was funny. he was in such an odd mood. the letter read out as...
Good morning love,
I'm sorry i didn't stick around to wait for you to wake up. But I thought this was a better arrangement. I am going to be gone all day. Don't look for me. Everything is just fine. I am not in trouble at all. Its a surprise really. I'm just busy. I will call you every two hours to prove I am alright and so you don't worry.
I love you always ~ Cian.
PS - roll over, you are snoring.
Cian enjoyed writing that. Of course she didn't snore, he just liked teasing her. Leaving the building Cian began on the long journey that would last all day long. Running in and out of shops, buying up what he could. Once he had gotten it all into the park, he had hired a couple of strangers to help him set things up. Another guy and his girlfriend. Nice couple and they were elated to help him knowing the reason. They moved over to an area by the small man made lake in the park. This space was surrounded by trees. One being a large weeping willow that over hung the edge of the water. It was here that he had a small table set up. Just like Cian had promised, he called every two hours. Making sure that she wasn't having a fit of worry. Once the table was set up and the chairs, the girlfriend of the gentleman helping set the table properly. Meanwhile, Cian and the bloke hung candles from the tree and set candles all around the area. outlining a spot surrounding the table. Once food arrived, all italian, Cian paid everyone and gave Pauley a ring as he lit all the candles.
"Hey Pauley... can you come an' see me in the park for a moment? I found this really cool thing I want te show you. Follow the white markers."
He hung up. Earlier he had placed white silken ribbon markers to lead her here. He was dressed in his ordinary clothing. so he didn't care. This was just as special in ordinary clothes as it would have been otherwise.

Rolling over, Pauley woke when she realized the stretch of bed beside her was empty. Her pink eyes shot open, and she immediately began to wonder if he was okay. Spying the letter and picture, she sat up and looked at the picture with a smile. After reading the letter, she was less worried and more intriqued. He had never done something as odd as leaving a picture of himself with his eyes closed. He hated having his picture taken. She would know, she had tried several times, and finally gave up.
Deciding to spend the day cleaning the flat and getting some things boxed up for the move, Pauley shuffled around and took the calls from Cian every couple of hours. By three in the afternoon, she had all the cleaning done and then some. The phone rang again just as she finished putting some makeup on. She had planned on making a good dinner at the table tonight when he called asking her to go to the park. Hanging up the phone, her curiosity peaked. What was he up too? She gathered up a bag, placed her wallet and keys in the purse and left, deciding to walk to the park since it was just a few blocks away.
As she got closer to the park, she spotted the first of the white silk ribbons. Gathering it in her hand, she continued on, collecting each ribbon as she went. Dark had fallen, and at first, Pauley thought her eyes had deceived her when she saw all of the lights and candles. Cian was standing there, and she ran over and kissed him hard. "Cian Mahoney, what is all of this?"

(i had permission to god mod Pauley) When he saw her approaching, a broad grin spread over his face and he took a few steps forward as she ran over and embraced him. He returned it along with the kiss gladly. "This my love, is supper." He showed her with a motion of his hand to the table that lay set. Italian food lay on the plates, still piping hot too. A tall bottle of red (non alcoholic for her sake) wine a well. He hugged her close and kissed her again. Walking her to the table as he pulled the chair out and pushed it back in when she chose to sit. Sliding her up to the table as he uncorked the wine. Pouring their glasses, he took a seat. "Are you surprised?" he beamed at her and chuckled a little.

Letting him lead her to her seat, Pauley nodded. "I am very surprised. I thought you were doing something work related, so I had to keep myself from going crazy all day. And you were here, doing all of this." She waited until he sat, then raised her glass. A quick glanced at the bottle confirmed that there was no alcohol in the wine. He had remembered his own rule. "Thank you, so much, although I don't know why you did this. But it is wonderful."

He sat there beaming at her. He had asked for some help from his employer and he managed to get some money out of Cian's account and wire it to him. But it had been hard to do. Oh well, he atleast got it. In good time too. Because it was how he paid for this. "Your welcome.. I'm just glad you like it, and I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done. i have yet to take you to supper, I thought that this would make up for that." He grinned at her. He raised his glass. "To you for never leaving... and to our child." He smiled at her and drank in her name and in the name of the product of thier love. He loved her so much. He just hoped he could show her just how much. "Cheers" He beamed at her. Taking a drink and then setting the glass down. Picking up his fork. "I hope you like Italian." He began to eat. Running things all over in his mind.

Grinning broadly, she let him pull out her seat and she sat, looking over the table. He had gone all out, getting Italian, and non alcoholic wine. His thoughtfulness touched her, and the normally not weepy woman found herself wanting to cry. Pauley watched as he poured them both a glass, and she raised her glass when he did and took a sip. Still in awe, she set her glass down and sighed in content. "Cian, this all so beautiful. Why did you go through all of this?" She took a bite from her bread stick, savoring the buttery garlic. Something was up, but she just didn't know what.

Cian beamed at her as he swallowed back a little of the lasaugna he had been munching on. "No real reason.. Love, its like I said.. I wanted to thank you for putting up with all the trouble and stress I caused you. Since everything started. I never got to thank you properly. This was the only way I could think to do so. Besides, you would deserve it anyway." He continued grinning away. He ate a little more. Waiting for her to accept all of this a little more. He then peered over the table at her plate. Putting on a fairly convincing act, Cian furrowed his brow. "Pauley, I think there is something under your plate. It doesn't look balanced." He said in a quizzical manner. "I did most of this in poor lighting. Table cloth probably bunched up." The sensible thing for a person to do would be to lift the plate and sort the trouble. "Lass, pass us the plate." he stood up so that he would be of better assistance. He maintained the normal appearance. Under the plate is where she would find a ring. He had a fun and creative way of getting her size as well. Having purchased three really inexpensive rings. all around her size. then slipping them on her finger as she slept. Oh, he had been a sneaky bastard to get her size. But he got it. Cian waited for her response before he did anything.

Setting her fork back onto her plate, Pauley frowned as he spoke. "You didn't cause me any trouble. Quite the opposite really. You have given me someone to love and someone to care for. Before you came around, I really didn't have much of a life or reason to live. The night I found you in that alley was the night I realized I was almost dead before you came along." She shook her head and frowned again. "So thank you, even if you don't know how much you have helped me." Taking a sip from her glass, she grinned over at him. She really did love the man, more than even she could understand.
At the mention of her plate being off balance, she looked around the edge of it, but couldn't see anything that would make it so. She noticed he was stood, so she handed him the plate since he seemed so worried about it. Moving the tablecloth, something glittered in the candlelight. She moved the white cloth another inch and gasped. There sat the most beautiful ring she had ever seen. Picking it up, she looked up at Cian and tears began to fall. "Cian, what... what is this?" Her heart began to skip beats and her hands shook. The ring was beautiful and there was only one reason she could think of for something like this...

He beamed at her once more and set the plate down on the table. Hearing her response and seeing her tears, Cian walked around the small table and took the ring from her. Holding it up to her as he spoke. "The hands represent friendship.. the crown is loyalty, and the heart stands for strong undying love." Cian grinned. He took her hand. Wondering at first, which hand he should put it on. He didn't imagine the wedding to be soon, so he slipped the ring on her right hand. The crown pointing towards her. This meant that she was taken and intended to wed. He then held her hand in his own two. "Pauley. I can' express in enough words, or enough actions to show you my gratitude for absolutely everything you have done. I love you unconditionally, an' nothing on the face of this planet could ever change tha'. I would sooner die the way I nearly had tha' night... then try te hide my love for you. There is nothing I wouldn' do for you. Not one single request tha' you could make tha' would be too great te perform." He stopped and took a deep breath. Looking deep into her beautiful pink eyes. "Wha' I am asking for Pauley is... Will you marry me?" he was nearly holding his breath as he waited.

Unable to speak, Pauley could do no more than nod her head as Cian gave his small speech. Tears fell from her pale face and splashed to the ground as she cried in joy. She had had no idea he was going to do this, and her heart felt as if it were going to burst when he asked her the one question she was sure, her entire life, she would never get the chance to hear. Taking a deep breath, she nodded, leaning forward to kiss him deeply. "Yes, yes of course I will marry you." Her left hand went to the ring on her right hand and she touched the ring, almost as if to make sure it were really there. Kissing him again and dinner forgotten, she beamed through her tear streaked face. "I love you more than words can express, Cian. So much more."

Watching her expression and the tears flowing down her cheeks, he kept grinning. He knew what he was going to say about that. He greeted the kiss deeply and smiled. After she confessed her further love to him, Cian embraced her in a snug hug and gently cupped her face with his hands. Looking at her straight dead in the eye. His expression soft with joy. He wiped the tears off of her cheeks with his thumbs, and then hugged her again. whispering softly into her ear. "Please don' cry." A smile spread across his face. He held her in that hug for a while. Just so he could be close to her, and so he could try to stop her tears. he knew they were happy ones, but still. He pulled away slowly and kissed her forehead before sitting down again in his chair. "Shall we finish the meal Pauley?" he chuckled.

Letting herself be gathered into an embrace, Pauley sniffled once before leaning out of his arms and kissing his cheek. "Sorry, I don't mean to cry. Well, I do. But I'm just so, well, happy." She smiled when he kissed her head, and she settled back into her chair, using her napkin to wipe her eyes. "Yes, I suppose we should finish this wonderful meal you had prepared for us." Her raised her leg, running the toe of her shoe up his leg, teasingly. "After all, we have all night for me to show you how much I love you." She smiled mischeviously, her pink eyes still blotchy from her tears, but twinkling with mischief.

He beamed at her and chuckled. It was alright with him. He really didn't mind. Her tears were in happiness, it just seemed like -please don't cry- was his catch phrase as he said it everytime he saw a tear run down her cheek. He had even found the ability to say it when he was found in that alley. He ate a little more and smiled at her. His eyes widening a little as he felt her running her toe up his leg a little. A wider grin on his face came to pass as he swallowed. Finishing up what was here. He looked at her. Full and happy. He looked at his new, wife to be, across the table and beamed at her. "You know wha' I have always wanted te do?" he asked. A playful glint in his eye. "How brave are you feeling at the moment?" Cian was essentially asking her if she was alright out here in -public-.

Finishing the last of her salad, Pauley washed it down with the rest of her wine and nodded. Feeling brave, she defiantly was. Right now, she would do anything for him, and that included doing the one thing she had caught him hinting about on two other occasions. "I am definately feeling brave. Right now I feel as if i could anything." Smirking, she stood and moved to sit on his lap, kissing him. "What did you have in mind?"

So she was feeling brave. He grinned as she sat in his lap and he eagerly returned the sweet kiss. He did that -mmmmm- as he pulled out of the kiss. "Righ' here Pauley.." He said with a chuckle. He knew she was pregnant, so he would be easy on her. But he kissed her gently. Nipping at her lips and running kisses down her neck. "I love you."
